This number of 177 million domains registration was count according to the fourth quarter by Domain Name Industry Brief by VeriSign in 2008. This means that’s growth for 16 percent from the last year (2007). From the last fourth quarter, its count more than 10.1 million new domains were registered across to all Top Level Domains (TLDs). At the top off the five largest TLDs in terms of size that is .com, .cn (China), .de (Germany), .net, and .org.
From the overall base of .com and .net domains is grown to 90.4 million at the end of 2008. This means that 12 percent increase from over the previous year and a one percent increase over the third quarter of 2008. VeriSign said that is working to provide a way to the people from different languages to navigate the Internet, and it supports for Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) that used a local language as the characters to represent the domain name.
As a new registrar this year, YOYO was surprise with the number. YOYO think the number will be increase this year, and this time YOYO domain (yoyo-on.com) will be the one from the large number.
